The Kamakhya Temple is one of India's most revered Shakti Peethas, a premier center for Tantrism, located atop Nilachal Hill in Guwahati, Assam. The sanctum sanctorum (garbhagriha) uniquely houses a yoni-shaped rock formation bathed by a natural spring, representing the creative power of the Goddess. The temple complex, with its distinctive beehive-like shikhara, also includes shrines to the Dasa Mahavidyas (ten forms of the Goddess). It attracts millions annually, especially during the Ambubachi Mela, a festival celebrating the Goddess's menstruation.
